Commitment

When one thinks of commitment, one thinks of how final it is. To most people (such as myself), feel that commitment is a frightening thing. Once you’re committed, there is no going back. In church last Sunday I heard a phrase that struck me as true. “Committing to something is an act of faith.” I was a little dumbfounded by those words, mainly because I could not believe that I had not thought of them before. Of course it is an act of faith! You don’t really know what is ahead of you and yet you decide to stick to something no matter what happens. For people like me, who like to see the path in front of them at all times don’t like to commit to something they don’t know about. But you know, it’s almost a relief to close your eyes and leap. I’ve been doing a lot of that this past year and it has served me well. Thank Heavens!
